To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements applicable to Lorry Loader operators working in the construction industry and allied environments.

Who Should Attend

 
Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training.
 

Course Contents

 
  • Basic construction, names of components, purpose and use of all controls and gauges
  • Use of handbook and other information sources, including legislation and Approved Codes of Practice
  • Pre-use, start, running checks and close down procedure
  • Configure the loader and carrier for site and road travel
  • Operator documentation, certificates, method statements, lift plans, duties charts etc.
  • Lifting accessories
  • Lifting loads
  • Responding to signals and instructions
  • Placing loads accurately, including loading and transporting on vehicles
  • How to stay safe within working parameters
  • Assessment
 

Course Outcomes

 
On completion of the course your candidate will be able to:
  • Know Loader capabilities and safety precautions
  • Know basic machine maintenance
  • Understanding and interpreting duties charts
  • The effect of radius change on safe working loads
  • Delegates are required to take the CPCS Technical Test.  Upon successful completion of the test they will be awarded a Red Operators Card.

Your candidate will be awarded a:

  • CPCS Red Operators Card – ( subject to successfully passing the Health & Safety Touch Screen Test)
