Course Overview
To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the relevant operational
and safety requirements applicable to Ride-on Roller operators working in the
construction industry and allied environments.

Who Should Attend
Anyone who is required to operate or supervise the operation of the
Ride-on-Roller in a construction or similar environment
Course Contents
- Aims and Principles of compaction
- Fault finding, minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures in accordance
with manufacturer’s and employer’s instructions.
- Preparing an area for compaction
- Manoeuvring and operating the machine safely and up to an adequate standard
- Rolling plans and setting up for compaction
- Compacting up to supported and unsupported edges, camber, cross fall, obstructions
and radius
- The use of operating systems and ancillary equipment eg. vibration, amplitude,
frequency and spray bars
Course Outcomes
On completion of the course your candidate will be able to:
- Know the capabilities and limitations of the Ride on Roller and associated attachments
- Have knowledge of rolling techniques, including the principles of compaction
- Know how the machine works and be able to make routine adjustments
- Delegates are required to take the CPCS Technical Test. Upon successful completion
of the test they will be awarded a Red Operators Card.
Your candidate will be awarded a:
- CPCS Red Operators Card – ( subject to successfully passing the Health &
Safety Touch Screen Test)
