Forward Tipping Dumper
Course Overview
To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the relevant operational
and safety requirements applicable to Forward Tipping Dumper operators working
in the construction industry and allied environments

Who Should Attend
Anyone who is required to operate or supervise the operation of the Forward Tipping
Dumper in a construction or similar environment
Course Contents
- Basic construction, names of components, purpose and use of controls
- Use of handbook and other information sources, including legislation and Approved Codes of Practice
- Pre-use, start, running checks and close down procedures
- Preparing the dumper for site and road travel
- Travelling the dumper over different terrain
- Travelling up and down substantial inclines, in both a loaded and unloaded state
- Manoeuvring, progressing to confined spaces in a forward and reverse direction
- Positioning the dumper to receive loads and discharging into excavations
- Loading procedures
- Load characteristics, integrity and security
- Discharging loads into trenches and over edges
- Placing the dumper in an out of service condition
- Loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
- Assessment
Course Outcomes
On completion of the course your candidate will be able to:
- Conduct the various checks and maintenance to be carried out before commencing work
- Use correct and safe methods of starting and stopping engines
- Know the safety precautions applicable to dumper operations
- Know the capacity and limitations of the machine
- Delegates are required to take the CPCS Technical Test. Upon successful completion of the test they will be awarded a Red Operators Card.
Your candidate will be awarded a:
- CPCS Red Operators Card – ( subject to successfully passing the Health & Safety Touch Screen Test)
