To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements applicable to the telescopic handler

Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction.

Basic construction, names of components, purpose and use of controls
Use of handbook and other information sources, including legislation and Approved Codes of Practice
Pre-use, start, running checks and close down procedure
Preparing the telescopic handler for site and road travel
Travelling the telescopic handler over different terrain, including rough, undulating ground and substantial inclines using different wheel drive and steer combinations
Manoeuvring, progressing to confined spaces in a forward and reverse direction
Carry out minor adjustments and routine service procedures
Loading vehicles and hoppers
Removing and re-attaching different attachments
Placing the telescopic handler in an out of service condition
Loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
Assessment

On completion of the course your candidate will be able to:

Operate the machine on all normal tasks for which the machine is designed
Decide whether a particular load is safe to lift
Carry out routine servicing procedures and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
Prepare and drive the machine on public highways and load it onto a transporter in accordance with the requirements on the Road Traffic Acts
Delegates are required to take the CPCS Technical Test. Upon successful completion of the test they will be awarded a Red Operators Card.

Your candidate will be awarded a:

CPCS Red Operators Card – ( subject to successfully passing the Health & Safety Touch Screen Test)

CPCS Plant NVQ, CPCS Safety Awareness, Working at Height, Scaffold Inspection

All candidates will receive a complimentary lunch for each day they are with us.
